- Your walking food tour begins when you meet your expert tour guide at the Arch at Washington Square Park. And when we say expert, we mean expert! Her accolades include a certificate of outstanding achievement from The James Beard Foundation and a book award from The International Association of Culinary Professionals. From Jacques Pepin to Julia Child, Thomas Keller, Jacques Torres, Daniel Boulud and Padma Lakshmi, she has worked with the most distinguished culinary talent.
- While at Washington Square Park you’ll gather around the statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi, one of the leaders of Italian unification, where you’ll learn about Italian immigrants in New York City.
- After that it’s time to get down to business! As you make your way to four highly recommended cupcake shops, you’ll also learn about the neighborhoods that you stroll through along the way – making this a private walking tour that combines food and culture.
- Your culinary cupcake and culture adventure stops include the aforementioned Magnolia Bakery, Molly’s Cupcakes, Little Cupcake Bake Shop and Butter Lane. At each you’ll sample one of their specialty customized cupcakes and then play food critic by rating them on pre-determined criteria.
- But that’s not all! Along the way you’ll also learn about the cupcake’s unlikely origins and hear about trends in the world of cupcakes. You’ll even get to visit a commercial kitchen where these elaborate sweet treats are created!
- All stops, timing and inclusions of the tour are dependent on traffic and weather conditions.
